TOXIN ADDITIVES IN YOUR FOOD

You are all familiar with the ingredient labels on processed foods that only a doctor in biology can understand. As a wellness coach, and avid health nut, I am always reading labels. This blog is to just share a couple things to look out for. You have probably heard this before, however it bears worth repeating.
DO NOT consume products with 'partially hydrogenated' oil, no matter if it is sunflower, canola, soy. Just Do Not consume any of it. This is oil that had been artificially infused with hydrogen to give it a thicker consistancy, like shortening. This Hydrogenated oil, once in your blood system, does NOT break down. It only serves to make the product more stable and CLOG UP your arteries!! When I was small, advertisers were pushing margarine as having no saturated fats, like butter has. The thing is, Butter is a Natural Substance. Margarine is not. The hydrogenated oil in margarine will stick to your artery walls, forming cholesterol deposits, causing heart disease, pre-mature heart attacks, and the like.
Then, more recently, I noticed another ingredient that raised my eyebrows. It is 'Hydrolized' oils. OK, so what is hydrolyzed? Wikipedia says it is 'produced by boiling cereals or legumes, such as soy, corn, or wheat in hydrochloric acid and then neutralizing the solution with sodium hydroxide.' Now when is the last time you boiled your veggies in hydrochloric acid????? Hydrochloric acid is also used to make PVC !!
Check out 'TheDailyGreen.com' to read about a 'HVP' or Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein' recall due to salmonella that never made the news!!
There is an enormous amount of clinical and experimental evidence supporting the premise that artificial ingredients, such as MSG, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, aspartame and hydrogenated oils also are a major factor in causing migraines, seizures, infections, certain types od obesity, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease to mention a few. Ironically, these food additives have Nothing to do with preserving food or increasing shelf life. They are all used to alter the taste of food.
I found on 'ClinicalTrials.gov' that there is a study to determine the effects of the Safety of infant formula containing 'partially hydrolized whey protein' !
No wonder our whole country is sick!! Look what we've been gullable enough to have been eating for the past 30 years. !!
Now for a real solution, check out my website and watch the video. The password to watch the video is 'Freedom'. http://www.076.webpres.biz my partner does an excellent presentation.
Here's to your health! It's OK to be WELL!!

Single Mom Career ????

Hi, It's Lisa aka DrMomCEO. Thank you for reading my post. It seems my life has sent me in the direction of being a single Mom by circumstance, not by choice.

I and My two oldest sons lost their Dad to Viral pneumonia on September 1, 1995. Dad was 9 days away from being 45; the two boys were 6 and 8 years old. Three years later, I reconnected with my youngest son's Dad, (who I lost contact with for 10 years, but that is another story). we were married for 3 years when he had a massive heart attack. Our son was 10. So, I have essentially raised my 3 sons on my own.

When it came time to pick jobs for my church, Pastor asked me to be on the Leadership team for Singles (which is not the job I chose). It was good to follow Pastor's wisdom, however. It is good to be able to Advise other younger Moms, or just to sit and listen. We also did quite a bit socially.

When my childern were small, I was a homemaker until they were all in school. My youngest son's PreK teacher asked me to be her Paraprofessional and Parent Educator. I took the class that was required and did just that. I left the house as my kids went to school, and I got home around the same time as they did !! Perfect for the single parent !! I thought about getting a job working in a day care at a gym. Other doors opened, so I stayed in the education field.

I am glad I did stay in the school system, because I stayed with all my kids teachers. I believe I would have anyway, this just made it easier. I believe I Am My Child's 1st Teacher !! The school teachers are there to help me, Not the other way around. I discussed with their teachers How I wanted my children to be educated. If I did not want them to participate in this or that, Or if I Wanted them to participate, I told the teachers hoew to educate my child; never unreasonable, yet we communicated often. I tried to always put a smile on their faces. Teachers have enough headaches as it is, I did not want to be another. I brought snacks to the classroom often. The whole school knew who I was; either Miss Lisa, Damien's Mom or Kalen's Mom or Jared's Mom and that was OK !! I even brought baked goodies to the office personelle on occasion.

I love socalizing and listening to others scenarios and antics about home life. It's OK to be single, sometimes Better than being in a relationship with someone who won't appreciate my kids like I do. (That can be a nightmare- how do I know that??)

Oh, BTW, I got the 'handle' DrMomCEO from the commercial years ago where a mom was doctoring her kid for some reason. I was always fixing some kind of Boo-Boo's. (Made a couple Hospital runs as well). Then I started working from home. Therefore DrMomCEO, just so you know.

Till next time. Lisa aka DrMomCEO

I am my Child's FIRST Teacher

My 3 Boys are grown now. However, when I realized that the magnet school they were in, even though they had the best teachers and the best technology in the county, they were cutting back on phonics when the inclusion curriculum was put in place. I went to work seeking out resources for educational material. I found that there is a county depot where all the used equipment goes, including books. I found books on all grade levels, readers, history etc. I began reading things to them; stories in the afternoons and reading to then history lessons about how our great country was founded. I had "summer school" for them 3 days a week during summer break. My neighbor joined in with her 2 girls.

I also found online a set of books that as a 5th grader, my teacher had read to us in the afternoons as a treat. The series is 'The Sugar Creek Gang. I found it in paperback. it consists of about 20 books. It is all about kids and their adventures back in the day when America was built on Community. It is All Good Clean reading! No Monsters, Demons or Witches or anything of the sort. I do not feel a need to desensitize kids from things that they Should be afraid of. Each Chapter leaves the reader (or listener) clammoring for more!!

As a Para-professional and Parent Educator in Kindergarten, Pre-K and ESE Pre-K, I realized ALL Kids. not just mine, loved time spent reading to them. Just having them loving to hear stories makes the love of reading engrained in them. When they want to learn- They DO!! They need to be motivated by Love. When they see that you care enough to take the time to share time with them, they seem to come along in their own time.

One of mine was a late bloomer academically. The teachers kept harping on me to have him daignosed, evaluated, etc, etc. I fefused to have my child labeled. He is now a specialized mechanic on the U-2 Reconnaissance plane in the U.S. Air Force. One is an ordinanceman in the Air Force and the other is aiming for a doctorate in math/physics.

Just LOVE your kids! They are not all alike. They will not all develop alike. Each one is on their own Developmental time line. Mine developed artistically first. The yearning for academics came later. God did not make a single one of them alike because they each have very special and unique purpose in life. No one can take the place of a single one!!

Good Luck! ~Lisa aka DrMomCEO

Jazz at Channelside

Saturday, August 23, 2008
Last Evening, I, My Son and a friend took the evening off to go enjoy some Jazz at Channelside in Tampa. We sat under a covering because it was still drizzeling rain on and off from tropical storm Fay. We got a couple Yueling's and ordered some grilled balsamic veggies. Boy, were they great!
The Band was not the one who was supposed to be there. However, I did enjoy their retro sound of music from when I was in High School like ZZ Top and others I can't remember the names of. I just know I like the songs.
Hearing 'Waiting for the bus' reminded me of my Brother John. He passed his test before I did and already graduated to Heaven. I remember, though, one time he came home from Germany when he was training troops over there. He brought a couple friends home with him. They were from England and were also into 'Zed Zed Top'. Of course at the time, being sheltered back in the hills of east Tennessee, I thought their pronounciation was hilarious. John knew I would get a kick out of it. He just Grinned.
I was sitting at one outdoor cafe, getting ready to enjoy the show, when an assertive shop keeper from next door, insisted to the restaruant management, that the table where I was seated be moved to the right just a bit, because it was blocking the view of his paintings he had on display. He owned a shop with paintings from around the world. he made a point to let us know that he paid $12,000 per month for that spot. I suppose I would have done something similar, had I owned the art shop. I do not think I would have done it in such an overbearing manner.
We did have a great time. I have not been taking the time to do many enjoyable things lately. I have been studying every aspect of Real Estate, going to meetings and seminars, as many as I can cram in a week. It was nice to enjoy my son's and his friend's company for a while and 'people watch'!
Enjoy somebody's company today. Life is so short! It's necessary for your Mental and Social Wellness. ~Lisa

My Brother's 50th

This past weekend, My siblings and I planned a BIG SURPRISE for our oldest Brother who is 50 today. he was going to be out of town on his birthday, so we had to work around that. He was constantly revising his travel plans, so we came up with the idea to Surprise Him EARLY.

I spent Friday, August 15th, gathering my Sis from the Tampa Airport and the Youngest Brother from St Pete Airport. Swung by the house, picked up my 23 year old son and headed to Miami. Miami is a 4-5 hour drive from Tampa so we loaded up a few snacks and waters, filled up the tank for $3.65/gallon and away we went.

We kept in touch with our Sister In Law, Anita to keep her posted as to our approximate arrival time. She had alerted the gate guard. This was the Amazing part- The guard knew he plan to surprise Brother Timothy. All he had to have was my name. He did not call for approval from the resident!! Hee-Hee!!! Total Surprise and Shock when all at once, there was just a knock at the door- neighbors??? No, Sister from Tampa........AND..... ........SHOCKER.....Sister Tina from Texas AND Brother James from Tennessee. Timothy was shocked And Speechless!! He actually Turned Red as we were there jumping around with Glee and Jubilation in Celebration of Our Ultimate success in Pulling off the Surprise of His Life!!!!

We were able to spend the Whole day Saturday, August 16 with our Birthday Brother, Driving down South Beach, Getting pictures of ALL our feet in the sand Together, then filling up one end of a local bar, enjoying a few drinks and appetizers. the Bartender made all 5 of us a 'surprise' Birthday Shot'! They were Beautiful; layered brown-green-brown!!! They were melon liqueur and another liqueur. Tina stopped at a street vendor and bought a gorgeous little Brown beaded necklace as a memento. We took pictures of everything!!

Later that evening, we had supper at HOPS restaurant. James kindly chastised the Manager for a very slow start in service. Afterward, we were treated like royalty for our Birthday celebrity! Tim got a year subscription to Beer of The Month!! Life is Good!!

Sunday, we all spent our time basking in each others company! We leisurely enjoyed our continental breakfast of fruits, coffees, teas, eggs and sausage. Timothy brought some extra condiments, cheese & peppers, so we could create "Tim's Egg Muffins" that he is so famous for. My little Pomeranian, "Q" enjoyed the yogurt, fresh fruit and eggs well! Each of us had planes to catch and careers to get back to. We Love US!!! It's so Good to Love and be Loved!!! We just Enjoy each other's company and being together!! We were sent home with fresh picked carambola/ star fruit, papaya, and mango. It just doesn't get much better than this!!!

It's up to each one of to be HAPPY. No one else cam Make you Happy. Stay healthy and You MAKE today a GREAT DAY!!

Reasons to replace your laundry detergent with eco-friendly solution

Reasons to replace your laundry detergent with eco-friendly solution
I've discovered an amazing product that replaces commercial laundry detergents with a natural soap that literally has no harmful chemicals! This is a very big deal because the laundry room is one of the most toxic rooms in the home of a typical consumer. Commercial laundry detergents, fabric softeners and dryer sheets contain alarmingly high levels of toxic chemicals well known to cause cancer, liver disorders, neurological disturbances and hormone disruption. I still haven't figured out why so many people actually wash their clothes in these dangerous chemicals and then wear them around all day, allowing the chemicals in the clothes to penetrate their skin and enter their bloodstream where they cause serious harm.
Even worse, all those toxic chemicals get flushed downstream where they contribute to the mass killing of fish and ocean ecosystems, including all the various life forms that depend on the fish (such as birds). We're offering a rediscovered natural product -- right now at http://www.saferforyourhome.com/
It sounds too good to be true, but in fact, it's real. For the past 26 years, I've been washing all my own clothes with this simple, natural laundry soap , and I've never felt happier (or more environmentally conscious) about my laundry.
Until now, there have been few options for eco-conscious consumers. While an increasing number of eco-friendly manufactured laundry products now exist in the marketplace . And many of the so-called "natural" laundry products are still made with fragrance chemicals, anyway.
When you purchase these family friendly products and put them to use, you're not only protecting your health and the environment, you're also supporting the families in the US who are also making the switch to a healthier lifestyle. Remember how I'm always urging us all to "vote with our dollars?" This is the perfect opportunity to do so. Vote against the chemical laundry companies and vote FOR natural and eco friendly laundry products by switching to products that will not put your loved ones in danger.
Of course, any skeptical consumer would be asking one question right now: "Do these products really work?"I was skeptical, too, that a laundry product that contained no chemicals could really replace my high-tech eco-friendly laundry soap. So I bought a laundry pack and tried them myself. I took the laundry soap formulated for High Efficiency machines and, with the pre measured pump and only used the pre measured amount, though I wanted to put 2 or 3 pumps, into my laundry and avoided using any other detergents or laundry products. I set the temperature on cold and gave it a normal wash cycle, and then I hit the start button and walked away.
An hour later, I returned and examined the finished load. They sure smelled clean. But the real test would come from wearing them during a workout, so I took them outside to dry them in the sun (since we have such great sunlight here in Florida, I often use it for drying clothes). After a few hours of blazing sunlight, the clothes were completely dry. I suited up with a pair of workout pants and an A shirt, then headed to the gym for an intense workout designed to produce lots of sweat. The short version of this story is that the clothes were really, truly clean and they smelled just fine, even after an hour of sweat-inducing cardiovascular activity. (It also helps that I don't drink dairy products, which makes people stink, but that's another story...) My workout clothes seemed just as clean to me as any other load of laundry I washed in various eco-friendly laundry products!
Over the next few days, I continued washing more loads with the soap. Every load came out clean, yet unscented (just the way I like it). I washed grimy socks, workout pants, hiking shorts and sweaty underwear, and everything was cleaned to my satisfaction. In other words, Eco-Sense really does clean your clothes just as good as any other commercial soap products! I remain convinced that these American made, non-chemical products are just as good as any other soap products on the market.
What's left is a load of clean clothes and nothing else! That's the way laundry should be. Much like clean water, clean laundry should NOT contain toxic chemical residues. In fact, it's more important to consider what laundry products do NOT contain than to look at what they do contain. What Eco-Sense does NOT contain include:• Foaming chemicals that fool consumers into thinking their clothes are cleaner because there are "suds" in the wash. TRUTH: Suds have nothing to do with cleaning. They are chemical additives used to create the illusion of cleaning action. (Silly consumers actually expect suds, so the manufacturers add them in.)• Fragrance chemicals that make laundry "smell" clean. Most commercial laundry products use toxic, synthetic fragrance chemicals that are, in fact, well known to promote cancer and liver disorders. Laundry products are not really regulated by any single government agency, and there is currently no law banning the use of known cancer-causing chemicals in laundry products (much like with cosmetics).• Filler ingredients. Nearly all commercial laundry products are made with at least 50% filler ingredients to "bulk them up" and make them appear to deliver more value for the price. Consumers are mostly just buying the illusion of detergent, made mostly with filler. You won't find filler or toxic chemicals in Eco-Sense. Just pure, natural saponins Grown by a tree and engineered by nature. In my opinion, that's where more of our products should ultimately come from. Wouldn't it be great if shampoo also grew on trees?
Actually, It Does! Next: Natural Shampoo
Overall, I'm incredibly delighted to have discovered Eco-Sense Products. They're nature's gift to the world, and we would all be smart to stop buying other manufactured laundry detergents and switch to natural laundry soaps. It's good for your health, your family and your environment. Plus, it ends the cycle of monetary support for manipulative consumer product companies that poison the world with their harmful chemicals products. All those brightly-colored laundry detergent boxes lining the shelves of your local grocery store are, indeed, quite poisonous to both you and the planet.

Repel Moths with Aromatic Herbs

Repel Moths with Aromatic Herbs
To protect your fabrics, use cedar shavings and blocks or cheesecloth bags filled with cloves, rosemary, eucalyptus, lavender, cinnamon sticks, bay leaves or other herbs. Your favorite sweaters, not to mention your drawers and closets, will smell fresh and clean. You'll avoid poisonous mothballs, which contain a pesticide the EPA links to cataracts, liver and neurological damage.
